WORDS : HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT ABOUT THE ROLE MEMORY PLAYS IN OUR LIVES AND HOW LUCKY WE ARE EVERY DAY TO BE ABLE TO SAY I REMEMBER? MEMORY IS A LINK TO THE PAST WHICH PROVIDES ADDITIONAL SUPPORT TO THE PRESENT. IT ALSO ALLOWS FOR A CONNECTION TO THE COMMUNITY IN WHICH INDIVIDUALS SHARE THE SAME HERITAGE, THE SAME HISTORY.
FOLLOWING MY MASTER THESIS ON MEMORY - TITLED ‘MÉMOIRE D’UN AMNÉSIQUE’ - THIS PROJECT INTENDS TO SHARE WHAT I LEARNT ABOUT LIVING WITHOUT MEMORY WHILE COMBINING DESIGN, FUNCTIONALITY AND RESPECT. PRODUCTS WERE DESIGNED AFTER SPENDING OVER TWO MONTHS IN AN ASSISTED LIVING CENTER AT THE CHARLES FOIX HOSPITAL, WHICH HOSTS ADVANCED-STAGE ALZHEIMER’S PATIENTS. RESTORING A SENSE OF DIGNITY AND NORMALCY TO THOSE PEOPLE BECAME A PRIORITY IN OUR WORK. OUR BASIC PREMISE WAS TO DELIVER AN INCREASED FEELING OF DIGNITY WHILE HELPING PEOPLE WITH DEMENTIA IN CRUCIAL ASPECTS OF THEIR LIVES.
